Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 9th August, 2011.

I, ALAN SHATTER, Minister for Justice and Equality, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Criminal Justice Act 2011 (No. 22 of 2011), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act 2011 (Commencement) Order 2011.

2. The 9th day of August 2011 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 2011 (No. 22 of 2011) shall come into operation:

(a) Part 1 (other than section 5);

(b) sections 7 (other than paragraph (c)) and 8;

(c) Part 3;

(d) Schedules 1 and 2.

This Order appoints 9th August 2011 as the date on which Part 1 (other than section 5), sections 7 (other than paragraph (c)) and 8 , Part 3 and Schedules 1 and 2 of the Criminal Justice Act 2011 come into operation.
