AGRICULTURAL SEEDS (PROTECTION OF SUGAR BEET SEEDS) ORDER, 1942.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 12 of the Agricultural Seeds Act, 1936 (No. 14 of 1936), that whenever the Minister for Agriculture is of opinion that the growing in any particular area of any particular class of plants would be likely to interfere with the production in that area of pure strains of agricultural seeds of any particular class, the said Minister may by order prohibit the growing in the said area of any plants of the said class :

AND WHEREAS the seeds of sugar beet are agricultural seeds for the purposes of the said Act and the said Minister is of opinion that the growing in any area to which this Order applies of mangels, being the produce of seeds sown in the year 1941, would be likely to interfere with the production in that area of pure strains of the seeds of sugar beet :

NOW, the Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 12 of the Agricultural Seeds Act, 1936 (No. 14 of 1936), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby orders as follows :— 1. This Order may be cited as the Agricultural Seeds (Protection of Sugar Beet Seeds) Order, 1942. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. 3. This Order applies to every area consisting of :—

(a) the area of a holding of which the name and address of the person in occupation on the 24th day of November, 1941, are specified in the third column of the Schedule to this Order and of which the situation is specified in the second column of the said Schedule opposite the mention in the said third column of such name and address, together with

(b) the area between the boundary line of such holding and a line parallel to such boundary line and five hundred yards distant therefrom. 4. The growing in any area to which this Order applies of mangels, being the produce of seeds sown in the year 1941, is hereby prohibited.
