An Post custom charges scam warning as Christmas delivery deadline confirmed

They are warning the public to not click on links in texts or emails that claim there is a customs charge due. An Post have said that they no longer include such links in their correspondence

The warning comes on the launch of Black Friday sales in not only Ireland but worldwide. They are also reminding the public that the last postage date for packages and letters ahead of Christmas is looming.

Last dates for posting Christmas parcels:

* USA and International - December 7

* Europe - December 13

* Great Britain - December 19

* Northern Ireland - December 20

* Within Ireland - December 22

Last dates for posting Christmas letters:

* Rest of World - December 7

* USA - December 12

* Europe - December 19

* Great Britain - December 19

* Northern Ireland - December 20

* Within Ireland - December 22

Julie Gill of the An Post Mails & Parcels customer team said: "Seeking out gifts for family and friends is an important part of the build up to Christmas and we want customers to feel as secure as possible so they can enjoy shopping online and steer clear of the scammers.

"An Post will never ask a customer to pay charges or provide payment information...
