The Dublin Police Act, 1842, and the Petty Sessions (Ir.) Act, 1851, prescribed certain periods of limitation beyond which summary proceedings thereunder could not be brought. The Courts of Justice Act, 1924, enacted that certain alleged offences, including embezzlement, might be tried on summary proceedings and did not impose any such limitation of time for the commencement of such proceedings.
