The applicants, who were convicted in the Circuit Criminal Court of robbery with violence and sentenced to three years Borstal detention, applied to the Court of Criminal Appeal for leave to appeal against sentence on the grounds of severity. The second named applicant had been convicted previously on two separate charges of housebreaking and larceny and also of malicious damage and unlawful possession.
