Ballyfermot community to come together in solidarity for gardai who were injured in attack

A woman in her 50s has been charged in connection with the incident while last night three man, in their 30s, 40s and 50s, were being held by gardai. The woman is due to appear before the CCJ at a later date and has been released from custody

The attack has been condemned by senior garda management and the local community. The two officers, a man and a woman, were alerted to a public order incident outside a pub on Ballyfermot Road on Sunday night.

In a video believed to be connected with the incident and seen by Dublin Live, the male garda can be seen receiving a number of kicks and punches to the head by a group of men. Local councillor Daithi Doolan said the community is coming together to show their support to local gardai by holding a solidarity event outside the Ballyfermot station.

Councillor Doolan said: "The Ballyfermot community will be showing their solidarity with local Gardaí tomorrow at the Ballyfermot Garda Station. In particular we will be showing solidarity with the officers who were viciously attacked on Sunday night. The event is being organised by local youth services and community groups.
