Mischievous propensity - Scienter - Notice to a child - Respondeat superior.
A dog which the defendant obtained as a present for his only daughter who was aged about 9 years, was allowed by the defendant to be taken about by this daughter in her sole control. It was held, following Elliott v. LongdenUNK (1901), 17 T. L. R. 648, that notice to the defendant's daughter of the dog's mischievous propensities in regard to mankind rendered the father liable.
