Covid-19 Ireland: Tallaght Test Centre to close permanently

The Tallaght Test Centre will no longer be operational from June 18 - six months after it first opened in January 2022. The centre carried out a whopping 44,278 swabs over the course of the last six months

The HSE said the leases for a number of centres are coming to an end and the testing programme will be moved to small clinics. The Ballyboden Test Centre will open at Ballyboden Primary Care Centre, Edmondstown Road on June 28 as a replacement for the Tallaght clinic.

An HSE spokesperson said: "The smaller centres will require less staff to maintain the service so there will be a significant proportion of staff who will be leaving the testing service when their contract expires at the end of June.
