Competition Authority clears Stobart acquisition of Aer

Arann

The Competition Authority has cleared the proposed transaction whereby

Stobart Group Limited would acquire sole control of Aer Arann. The

transaction was notified by the parties under the Competition Act 2002 on 21

November 2012.

The Authority’s investigation and analysis indicates that there is little or no

overlap in the activities of Stobart and Aer Arann. Stobart is principally active

in road haulage whereas Aer Arann is active in air transport services. No third

party raised any competition concerns about the deal. The Authority

therefore concludes that the deal will not adversely affect consumers in any

markets for goods or services in the State.

The Authority will publish a public version of the reasons for its determination

on its website (www.tca.ie) no later than 11 February 2013 after allowing the

parties the opportunity to request that confidential information is removed

from the published version.
