EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (NUCLEAR SAFETY)

REGULATIONS 2017.

The Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment,

in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the European

Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving

further effect to Council Directive 2009/71/Euratom of 25 June 2009

as amended by Council Directive 2014/87/Euratom of 8 July 2014

establishing a Community framework for the nuclear safety of nuclear

installations, has made Regulations entitled as above.

These Regulations are without prejudice to the provisions of the

Electricity Regulation Act 1999 (No. 23 of 1999). Section 18 (6) of

the Electricity Regulation Act 1999 places a prohibition on the use of

nuclear ssion within the State for the generation of electricity.

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (HOUSING) AND

RESIDENTIAL TENANCIES ACT 2016 (COMMENCEMENT OF

SECTION 28(2)) ORDER 2017.

The Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local

Government, Mr Eoghan Murphy T.D., has made the above

Commencement Order that brings into operation on 9 August 2017

section 28(2) of the Planning and Development (Housing) and

Residential Tenancies Act 2016 (as amended by section 1 of the

Planning and Development (Amendment) Act 2017).

Section 28(2) of the 2016 Act amends section 42 of the Planning and

Development Act 2000 to have the effect, until 31 December 2021, of

providing, on application to a planning authority, for a further extension

of the duration of a planning permission for certain developments of

20 houses or more subject to certain criteria. The additional period of

the duration of a permission under section 28(2) cannot exceed 5 years

or extend beyond 31 December 2021, whichever rst occurs.

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (AMENDMENT)

REGULATIONS 2017.

The Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local

Government, Mr Eoghan Murphy T.D., has made Regulations entitled

as above.

These Regulations, which come into operation on 9 August

2017, insert a new Chapter 3A into Part 4 of the Planning and

Development Regulations 2001, as amended, prescribing matters

relating to applications to planning authorities under section

42(1A) of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended,

for a further extension of the duration of planning permissions for

certain developments of 20 houses or more. The Regulations also

make consequential amendments to Chapter 3 of Part 4 of the 2001

Regulations. The Regulations will apply until 31 December 2021.
