THE EUROPEAN UNION (PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT)

(RENEWABLE ENERGY) REGULATIONS 2025

The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Mr James

Browne T.D., has made Regulations entitled as above.

The Regulations make various amendments to the Planning and

Development Act 2000 and the Planning and Development Regulations

2001 to 2025 in order to transpose articles 15e(5), 16, 16b, 16c(2),

16c(3), 16d, 16e and 16f of the EU Directive 2023/2413.

The Regulations introduce provisions that aim to speed up the permit

granting process for renewable energy projects, as well as provisions

concerned with environmental protection Directives and how th ey are

applied to certain renewable energy projects.
