IRISH STANDARD REVOCATIONS
Irish Standards based on adopted European Standards (ENs)
published between 1961 and 1998 under the Industrial Research and
Standards Act 1961, the Science and Technology Act 1978 and the
National Standards Authority of Ireland Act 1996 remain current until
revised by European Organizations responsible for them.
These standards (where they have been revised) are hereby revoked
and details of their replacement standards are available on the NSAI
website (www.nsai.ie).

EUROPEAN UNION (DATA PROCESSING) REGULATIONS
2025
The Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment in exercise of
the powers conferred on him by Section 8(2) of the Sustainable
Energy Act 2002 (No. 2 of 2002), after consultation with the
Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland and the Minister for Public
Expenditure and Reform, has made the above Regulations.
Under The European Union Common Provisions Regulation (CPR)
(Regulation (EU) 2021/1060 of the European Parliament and of the
Council of 24 June 2021), Member States must have an audit trail to
guard against irregularities and fraud in relation to the European
Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funding.
This Regulation provides specific legal provision for the SEAI to
share data with the Regional Assemblies for auditing purposes related
to funding received from the European Regional Development Fund
(ERDF).

operation.
The 1st day of March 2026 is appointed as th e day on which sections
2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 30
of the Act of 2026 shall come into operation.

RESIDENTIAL TENANCIES ACT 2004 (PRESCRIBED
FORM) REGULATIONS 2026
These Regulations, in Regulation 4 and the following Parts of th e
Schedule, prescribe the following:
(a) Part 1 prescribes the form for the purposes of an application
to the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) to register a
tenancy under section 134 of the Residential Tenancies Act
2004 (the Act of 2004);
(b) Part 2 prescribes the acknowledgement letters and the
statement of ri ghts and obligations to issue from the RTB
to a landlord and a tenant for the purposes of section 135 of
the Act of 2004, upon registration of a tenancy;
(c) Part 3 prescribes the notice for the purposes of updating
tenancy information, including rent changes, on the RTB’s
Register of Tenancies under section 139 of the Act of 2004;
(d) Part 4 prescribes the Notice of Rent Review for the
purposes of section 22 of the Act of 2004 to be given to the
tenant and the RTB when changing a rent amount;
(e) Part 5 prescribes the notice of exemption from the rent
increase restrictions on tenancy commencement for the
purposes of section 19(5B) of the Act of 2004 to be given
to the tenant and the RTB where an exemption is claimed
when setting a rent at the start of a new tenancy (i.e. first
time tenancy between parties);
(f) Part 6 prescribes the notice of exemption from the rent
increase restrictions on rent review for the pur poses of
section 19(5B) of the Act of 2004 to be given to the tenant
and the RTB where an exemption is claimed when changing
a rent amount during a tenancy on rent review.
Regulation 5 revokes the previous forms/notices.

LETTING – PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ACT 2000)
REGULATIONS 2026
The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Mr James
Browne T.D., has made Regulations entitled as above.
The Regulations are made under section 3A(2) of the Planning and
Development Act 2000, as amended.
The Regulations provide for an amendment to article 6 of the
Planning and Development Regulations 2001. It deletes all references
to rent pressure zones such that the exemption from planning
permission for change of use to a short term let for a principal private
residence applied nationwide and is not d ependent on the
geographical designation of rent pressure zones.
