Killer Graham Dwyer joins rapist's rock band in prison

The band was formed with Cratloe rapist Stephen Barry, who was released from prison in 2019. Barry was the lead singer in Dwyer's group.

Dwyer, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of Elaine O'Hara, played bass guitar in the band, and still plays almost every day.

Before Barry, who was involved in a horrific gang rape, was released, he and Dwyer formed a group for a weekly music class behind bars — and the pair became pals.

Now sources say Dwyer likes to play solo a lot, and is often seen walking around with his bass guitar on his back.

The killer spends his time playing his instrument or reading as he awaits his upcoming appeal over the murder of Ms O'Hara.

He is allowed to play the bass guitar during the class which can take place any day, as long as he is supervised by prison staff.

A man who was in a band with Dwyer in the 1990s previously told how he couldn't believe Dwyer had "turned into a monster."

Steve Hadley — part of the band called The Swing in 1992 — told how he met Dwyer after putting an ad in a music shop looking for a bass player.

Speaking in 2015, he said: "I've been in shock from day one when I heard about his arrest and it will take a while to sink in that he's been jailed for such a brutal and barbaric crime.

"He never discussed any bizarre fantasies."

Meanwhile, rapist Stephen Barry has since taken to the streets of Limerick to try and show off his singing skills.

Earlier this year a video emerged of Barry belting out Bon Jovi's hit 'Always' on a busy street.
