I, Dermot Ahern, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 14A(1)(a) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1992 (No. 2 of 1992) inserted by Section 4 (c) of the Merchant Shipping (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1998 (No. 20 of 1998) as adapted by the Marine and Natural Resources (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002 ( No. 307 of 2002 ) hereby make the following Regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Licensing of Passenger Boats (Exemption) (Amendment) Regulations 2002. 2. The Licensing of Passenger Boats (Exemption) Regulations 2002 are amended as follows:

(1) in Regulation 1(ii) by substituting “1 January 2003” for “6th day of June 2003”, and

(2) in Regulation 4(2)(f) by substituting “vessel” for “boat”.

These Regulations amend the Licensing of Passenger Boats (Exemption) Regulations 2002 bringing forward the date of commencement to 1 January 2003 and making a minor amendment to the construction requirements of the Regulations.
