Marine and Natural Resources (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 2002

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 (1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Marine and Natural Resources (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002.

(2) This Order comes into operation on 19 June 2002.

2. The name of the Department of State, the present name of which is, in the Irish language, an Roinn na Mara agus Acmhainní Nadúrtha and, in the English language, the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources, is altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Cumarsáide, Mara agus Acmhainní Nadúrtha and, in the English language, to that of the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources.

3. The title of the Minister having charge of the Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language, an tAire na Mara agus Acmhainní Nadúrtha and, in the English language, the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources, is altered, in the Irish language to that of an tAire Cumarsáide, Mara agus Acmhainní Nadúrtha and, in the English language to that of the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources.

4. In any enactment or any instrument made under an enactment -

(a) references to the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources shall be construed as references to the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources;

(b) references to the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources shall be construed as references to the Minister for Communications Marine and Natural Resources.
