Abstract:

Dismissal - Bad working athmostphere in small shop - Claimant's reluctance in accepting respondent's authority

Claimant worked as shop assistant. She had previously worked with the respondents in another store where they were all employees. The changed role of the claimant working for the two respondents had caused a personality clash between the claimant and Ms Collins. A bad athmostphere developed between the two and the claimant failed to understand or accept that Ms Collins was her boss. The respondent reduced the claimant's working hours by half without prior consultation. This resulted in a heated exchange in which the claimant was dismissed.
