Abstract:

Dismissal - Working relationship with spouse of respondent - Contribution to own dismissal.

The business of the respondent was a family run sandwich bar and difficulties arose between the claimant and the wife of the licensed owner who also worked in the business. The respondent contended that he spoke to the claimant about her having to respect his wife's authority and matters improved for a while. But later the relationship deteroitated and the claimant, it was alleged was abusive to his wife and family. The claimant stated that she had a good working relationship with the respondent but found the respondent's wife highly strung and not very approachable. She denied being abusive. The respondent had no disciplinary procedures.The situation becoming intolerable the respondent informed her she would have to go.
