LEGALLY BINDING DECISION OF THE FINANCIAL SERVICES AND PENSIONS OMBUDSMAN

Background

The Complainant incepted a Personal Pension Plan (the “Policy”) with a named product

provider on 1 November 1991. The Policy transferred to the Provider in this complaint, in

1999. The complaint relates to the fees / charges which the Provider has charged on the

Complainant’s Policy from 2002 onwards.

The Complainant’s Case

The Complainant says that when he entered into the Personal Pension Plan Policy with the

original product provider in 1991, that product provider failed to bring to his attention that

the maturity date of the Policy would be in 2026, when he is due to reach age 70, rather

than in 2021, when he reached age 65, which the Complainant considers was the standard

retirement age at the time he took out the Policy.

The Complainant submits in the attachment to his email to this Office of 21 January 2023
