Prison (Amendment) Rules 2018

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 4th December, 2018.

I, CHARLES FLANAGAN, Minister for Justice and Equality, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 35 of the Prisons Act 2007 (No. 10 of 2007) (as adapted by the Justice and Law Reform (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 138 of 2011 )), hereby make the following rules:

1. (1) These Rules may be cited as the Prison (Amendment) Rules 2018.

(2) The Prison Rules 2007 to 2017 and these Rules may be cited together as the Prison Rules 2007 to 2018.

2. Rule 2(2) of the Prison Rules 2007 ( S.I. No. 252 of 2007 ) is amended, in the definition of “Director General”, by the substitution of “temporary absence, or where that post is vacant, such person as may be designated by the Minister to perform the functions of the Director General during that vacancy;” for “temporary absence;”.
