Public Enterprise (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 2002

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 (1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Public Enterprise (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002.

(2) This Order comes into operation on 19 June 2002.

2. The name of the Department of State, the present name of which is, in the Irish language, an Roinn Fiontar Poiblí and, in the English language, the Department of Public Enterprise, is altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Iompair and, in the English language, to that of the Department of Transport.

3. The title of the Minister having charge of the Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language, an tAire Fiontar Poiblí and, in the English language, the Minister for Public Enterprise, is altered, in the Irish language, to that of an tAire Iompair and, in the English language, to that of the Minister for Transport.

4. In any enactment or any instrument made under an enactment -

(a) references to the Department of Public Enterprise shall be construed as references to the Department of Transport;

(b) references to the Minister for Public Enterprise shall be construed as references to the Minister for Transport.

This Order changes the name of the Department of Public Enterprise to that of the Department of Transport and the title of the Minister for Public Enterprise to the Minister for Transport.
