Purcell v Noonan Civil Engineering Ltd

Claimant worked as site engineer for respondent. The work ran for a specific period. The claimant believed additional work would extend his employment as he was lead to believe that the housing estate would be developed further. On the last day of work before the builders' holidays he was given his pay, holiday pay and his P45. This was the first indication that his work was being terminated. The Tribunal determined that the sudden communication of his dismissal was unreasonable and there unfair. Claimant awarded £3,000.
