SOCIAL WELFARE AND PENSIONS ACT 2007 (SECTION 34) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER 2007

The Minister for Social and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1 of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2007 (No. 8 of 2007), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2007 (Section 34) (Commencement) Order 2007.

2. 5 June 2007 is appointed as the day on which section 34 of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2007 (No. 8 of 2007) comes into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order provides for the commencement of Section 34 of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2007.

Section 34 provides for the inclusion of the managers of Social Welfare Branch Offices, and their staff, in the categories of persons designated by the Minister to decide claims for certain payments under the social welfare code.

This section comes into effect from 5 June 2007.
