The beloved cafe hidden behind a bookshop in Dublin city centre

Hidden behind The Last Bookshop is a lovely little oasis that acts as a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the area

To reach The Cake Cafe, you first have to walk through the bookshop, then through a courtyard to reach the cafe where you will find delicious cakes and coffee.

The cafe's owner David told Dublin Live about people's responses when they initially discover something "pretty special".

He said: "It's always a surprise, the look on people's faces when they come through the door and they see it.

"For a cafe that's so small and hidden away, it's incredible how people find their way here. It's a little sanctuary."

Curious and hungry Dubs are welcome to stroll into the cafe, while other offerings here include afternoon tea, wedding cakes and party platters.

The eatery has a strong sustainability ethos, which is born out of the eco-friendly building they find themselves in.

David told us: "The building itself is one of the first eco-friendly developments in the whole of Dublin. It was developed specifically with conservation in mind.
