Background

The complaint concerns a Unit-linked Whole of Life Policy (the “Policy”) taken out with the

Provider on 21 June 1999.

The Complainants’ Case

The Complainants submit that their Policy with the Provider provided them with life cover

of IR £30,000.00 (€38,092.00) and additional serious illness benefit of IR £26,000.00

(€33,013.00), for an initial monthly premium of IR £20.00 (€25.39).

The Complainants say that when they took out the policy for a monthly premium of €25.39

(IR £20.00) they were advised that this premium amount would remain the same for life.

The Complainants state that following a Policy review that the Provider carried out in April

2019, the Provider wrote to them on 29 April 2019 to advise that in order to maintain the

existing life cover of €44,441.00 and the additional serious illness benefit on €25,395.00,

the monthly premium would need to increase to €49.59 (inclusive of 1% Government levy)
