Williams v M. & G. Gallagher Limited t/a Book Station

Claimant worked as assistant manageress but was subjected to continued verbal abuse by the respondent. The respondent denied using foul language directed to the complaimant and evidence in support said he may have used strong language in conversation but not directed at employees. Evidence was called in support of the claimant by a former employee. The claimant suffered ill health on account of the continued verbal abuse and subsequently resigned. The Tribunal determined the claimant was dismissed and deemed it unfair awarding her £8,000 compensation.
