Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, HELEN MCENTEE, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 (1)(i) of the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2020 (No. 23 of 2020), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2020(Parts 17, 18, 19 and 20) (Commencement) Order 2020.

2. The 31st day of December 2020 at 11.00 p.m. is appointed as the day on which and the time at which Parts 17, 18, 19 and 20 of the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2020 (No. 23 of 2020) shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order appoints 31 December 2020 at 11.00 p.m. as the day and time when Part 17 (Immigration), Part 18 (International Protection), Part 19 (Recognition of certain divorces, legal separations and marriage annulments) and Part 20 (Amendment of the Defamation Act 2009 ) of the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2020 come into operation.
