Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 28th April, 2020.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 (2) of the Criminal Law (Insanity) Act 2006 (No. 11 of 2006), after consultation with the Mental Health Commission, hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Criminal Law (Insanity) Act 2006 (Designation of Centre) Order 2020.

2. This Order shall come into operation on 24 April 2020.

3. The psychiatric centre situated at the Brandon Building within the National Forensic Mental Health Service in Portrane in the county of Dublin coloured in red and marked “BRANDON” on the map in the Schedule is designated as a centre for the reception, detention and, where appropriate, care or treatment of persons or classes of persons committed or transferred thereto under the provisions of the Criminal Law (Insanity) Act 2006 (No. 11 of 2006).

The effect of this order is to formally designate the Brandon Building within the National Forensic Mental Health Service in Portrane, Co Dublin as a psychiatric centre under section 3 (2) of the Criminal Law (Insanity) Act 2006 .
