Verbal notice - What such notice should state -Road Traffic Act, 1933 (No. 11 of 1933) s. 55 (2).

Where a Garda gives a defendant verbal notice, at the scene of an accident or other occurrence, that he (the defendant) will be prosecuted, it is not necessary that any details of the alleged offences should be stated to the defendant. The State (McLoughlin) v. Judge Shannon and District Justice O'SullivanIRDLTR [1948] I.R. 439 and 83 ILTR. 130 followed.
