I, RICHARD BRUTON, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Regulation (EC) No 2006/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 October 20041 as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 November 20092 and Regulation (EU) No 954/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 September 20113 hereby make the following regulations: | ||||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Cooperation between National Authorities Responsible for the Enforcement of Consumer Protection Laws) (Amendment) Regulations 2012. | ||||
2. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” mean the European Communities (Cooperation between National Authorities Responsible for the Enforcement of Consumer Protection Laws) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 290 of 2006 ) as amended by European Communities (Cooperation between National Authorities Responsible for the Enforcement of Consumer Protection Laws) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 ( S.I. No. 316 of 2008 ). | ||||
3. The Principal Regulations are amended: | ||||
(a) in Regulation 2(1) by— | ||||
(i) substituting the following definition for the definition of “Council Regulation”: | ||||
“ “Council Regulation” means Council Regulation (EC) No. 2006/2004 of 27 October 20041 on cooperation between national authorities responsible for the enforcement of consumer protection laws as amended by Directive No. 2005/29/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 May 20054 , Directive 2009/136/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 November 20092 and Regulation (EU) No 954/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 September 20113;”, and | ||||
(ii) deleting the definition of “office of Director of Consumer Affairs”; | ||||
(b) in Regulation 3 by substituting “National Consumer Agency” for “office of Director of Consumer Affairs”; | ||||
(c) in the Schedule by— | ||||
(i) substituting “National Consumer Agency” for “office of Director of Consumer Affairs” in each place where it occurs, | ||||
(ii) substituting the following entry for the entry at Reference Number 1: | ||||
