Garda Síochána (Retirement) (No. 2) Regulations 2006

I, Michael McDowell, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, with the approval of the Government, hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 128 (2) of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (No. 20 of 2005), make the following regulations:

1. These regulations may be cited as the Garda Síochána (Retirement) (No. 2) Regulations 2006.

2. Paragraph 6(a)(iii) of the Garda Síochána (Retirement) (No. 2) Regulations 1951 ( S.I. No. 335 of 1951 ) is amended by the substitution of “sixty years” for “fifty-seven years”.

The Government approve of the making of the foregoing regulations.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

These Regulations provide that members of the Garda Síochána in the ranks of Garda, Sergeant and Inspector shall retire on reaching the age of 60 years.
