I, John O'Donoghue, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 11 (2) of the Immigration Act, 1999 (No. 22 of 1999), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Immigration Act, 1999 (Section 11(1)(p)) (Commencement) Order, 2000.

2. The 20th day of November 2000 is hereby fixed as the day on which section 11 (1)(p) of the Immigration Act, 1999 (No. 22 of 1999), shall come into operation.

Explanatory Note

(This in not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

This Order commences section 11 (1)(p) of the Immigration Act, 1999 , which section amends section 22 (Dublin Convention) of the Refugee Act by providing the transfer of responsibility for determining matters under the Dublin Convention from the appointed officer and appeals officer under the Refugee Act as initiated to the Refugee Application's Commissioner and the Refugee Appeals Tribunal respectively in the Refugee Act as amended.
