INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH AND STANDARDS (SECTION 44) (CHILDREN'S TOYS) ORDER, 1985.

I, JOHN BRUTON, Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 44 of the Industrial Research and Standards Act, 1961 (No. 20 of 1961), and the Industry (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1983 ( S.I. No. 383 of 1983 ), hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Industrial Research and Standards (Section 44) (Children's Toys) Order, 1985.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of March 1985.

3. It shall be unlawful to manufacture, assemble or sell a child's toy unless it complies with Irish Standard 165:1968 (as amended by the Standard Specification (Toxicity and Cellulosic Content of Children's Toys) Declaration, 1968, (Amendment) 1974, and the Standard Specification (Toxicity and Cellulosic Content of Children's Toys) Declaration, 1968, (Amendment) No. 2: 1984), being the standard specification for toxicity and cellulosic content of children's toys declared by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards.
