LOCAL GOVERNMENT (ALTERATION OF NAME OF DEPARTMENT AND TITLE OF MINISTER) ORDER, 1977.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 (1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), hereby order as follows:— 1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1977.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 17th day of August, 1977. 2. The name of the Department of State, the present name whereof is, in the Irish language, An Roinn Rialtais Áitiúil, and, in the English language, the Department of Local Government, is hereby altered in the Irish language to that of An Roinn Comhshaoil and, in the English language, to that of the Department of the Environment. 3. The title of the Minister having charge of a Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language An tAire Rialtais Áitiúil and, in the English language, the Minister for Local Government, is hereby altered in the Irish language to that of An tAire Comhshaoil and, in the English language, to that of the Minister for the Environment. 4. In any enactment, references to the Department of Local Government shall be construed as references to the Department of the Environment and references to the Minister for Local Government shall be construed as references to the Minister for the Environment.
