WATERFORD HARBOUR WORKS ORDER, 1947.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Part VIII of the Harbours Act, 1946 (No. 9 of 1946), and on the application of the Waterford Harbour Commissioners, hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Waterford Harbour Works Order, 1947.

2. In this Order—

the expression " the Commissioners " means the Waterford Harbour Commissioners ;

the expression " the plans and sections " means the plans and sections deposited by the Commissioners with the Minister in connection with their application for this Order ;

the expression " the works " means the works authorised by this Order.

3.—(1) The Commissioners are hereby authorised to—

(a) carry out and complete Work No. 1, and

(b) join with Córas Iompair Éireann in constructing Work No. 2.

(2) In this Article—

the expression " Work No. 1 " means the breaking and removal of 360 lineal feet or thereabouts of rock of varying width and depth in the bed of the river Suir at the North Wharf, Waterford ;

the expression " Work No. 2 " means—

(i) the rebuilding in reinforced concrete of 962 lineal feet or thereabouts of the existing 20 feet wide timber wharf known as the North Wharf, Waterford, and the extending of its face line for a varying width of from 11 feet to 25 feet further into the River Suir to give a depth of 22 feet 8 inches of water below L.W.O.S.T.,

(ii) the provision on such rebuilt and extended portion of the North Wharf of such cranes, crane tracks, railway lines, switches, crossings and electric lights and power plugs as may be required by Córas Iompair Éireann for dealing adequately with the traffic at the said wharf and such cranes, crane tracks, railway lines, switchesand crossings being so placed and laid that the upper surface thereof shall be level with the finished surface of the reconstructed and extended North Wharf,

(iii) the construction of a roadway connecting the reconstructed and extended portions of the North Wharf and every part thereof with the public road situated near the railway station at the western end of the new wharf and existing goods station, provided that the surface of the said roadway shall not be lower than the upper surfaces of any tracks, rails and switches or crossings laid in or adjoining the said roadway and that the said roadway shall lead up to, and the reconstructed surface...
