'Me auld flower' food and drink festival is a must see this bank holiday weekend

We went to check it out and we were not disappointed. The festival is taking place in Smithfield in the old fruit and veg markets which is arguably one of the most historic buildings in Dublin

The second we walked in we could feel the buzz of the atmosphere as swarms of people walked around taking it all in. With delicious food and drink and interesting demos taking place there really is something for everyone at this fun festival.

As soon as you walk in there are so many food and drink choices it's hard to know where to begin. I opted for an Irish style of croquettes from the The Salt Project. They were described as a 'Irish cheese and onion croquettes, winter truffle mayo and garden chive powder', and they were delicious.

They were piping hot and with salt and the mayo they were just the perfect Irish take on croquettes. Vegan coddle and an Irish cheese box were some of the other dishes on offer.

Most of the food available comes in small portions so you can try a bit of everything and with that in mind we went for seconds at another food truck.

We picked up a battered chorizo sausage which came with mayo and was bursting with flavour.

After this we definitely needed a sweet treat . We immediately headed for The Drunken Cookie stand. I got a kinder cookie and it was so sweet and just hit the spot perfectly.
