Gardai warn of 'bank jugging' ahead of Christmas period

'Bank jugging' is a theft method where customers of financial institutions are watched by persons who wait for them to come out of the financial institution with a bank bag, coin box or bank envelope that looks like they may have a large amount of cash

A thief may follow the customer and look for an opportunity to steal the cash. This may involve breaking into their car or distracting the victim. Officers on the Meath Crime Prevention Facebook page have warned anyone who is carrying out cash transactions to be vigilant and have issued the following advice:
