IRISH NATIONALITY AND CITIZENSHIP (FEES) REGULATIONS, 1993.

I, MÁIRE GEOGHEGAN-QUINN, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1956 (NO. 26 of 1956), hereby, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Irish Nationality and Citizenship (Fees) Regulations, 1993.

(2) The Principal Regulations, the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Regulations, 1986 ( S.I. No. 261 of 1986 ), and these Regulations may be cited together as the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Regulations, 1956 to 1993.

(3) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1993.

2. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Regulations, 1956 ( S.I. No. 216 of 1956 ).

3. The Irish Nationality and Citizenship (Fees) Regulations, 1987 ( S.I. No. 148 of 1987 ) is hereby revoked.

4. The Principal Regulations are hereby amended by the substitution for Regulation 14 of the following Regulation:

"14. (1) The following fees shall, subject to Article (2) of this Regulation, be paid by the declarant or the applicant, as the case may be:

( a ) on the making of a declaration by an alien accepting Irish citizenship, a fee of £100;

( b ) on the issue of a certificate of naturalisation—

(i) where the application therefor is made on behalf of a minor, a fee of £100;

(ii) where an application therefor is made by a person whose spouse is an Irish citizen by naturalisation, a fee of £100;

(iii) where the application therefor is made by a widow or widower whose spouse was, immediately before death, an Irish citizen, and who has not, subsequent to the spouse's death, become a naturalised citizen of any other country, a fee of £100;

(iv) where the application therefor is made by a person born in Ireland who renounced his Irish citizenship in accordance with section 21 of the Act (inserted by section 7 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1986 ( S.I. No. 23 of 1986 )), a fee of £100;

(v) in the case of any other application therefor, a fee of £500.

(2) Notwithstanding anything contained in Article (1) (b) of this Regulation, the fees payable under subparagraphs (i), (ii), (iii) and (v) of that Article shall be nil, if the application for the certificate concerned is made by or on behalf of a refugee or Stateless person referred...
